Yes it’s true and has been announced on the GlobalGrind website earlier today.
Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and earlier this morning (May 4th) at the age of 47 he lost that battle.
When the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month and Ad Rock (Adam Horovitz) and Mike D (Michael Diamond) showed up without him his health was the first thought in the minds of many fans.
Beastie Boys just won’t be the same without MCA and he will be missed.
With sadness we dedicate a moment of silence to the death of this talented artist.

So being a fan of Nirvana I of course was interested to see what “artists” had to say.
Before I get into what I thought of the actual “article”, let me ask you a question…
When you read that title, “What Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ Means to Me. 40 Artists Reflect on a Classic”, whose reflections do you expect to get?
For me I was thinking musicians and preferably musicians who’s opinions most Nirvana fans would actually be interested in.
I have to say that at least a few in the list of “artists” they quoted were laughable and not just laughable as actual artists but as to how they could even say that they were quoting the reflections of artists at all.
I mean they quoted Billy Ray Cyrus and while I would say he definitely shouldn’t be quoted in such an article regardless of what he thinks, it was quite funny that they listed Danny Goldberg (Nirvana’s former manager) and Jennie Boddy (a former Sub Pop publicist) among the supposed “artists” to comment.
They also quoted comedians, actors, and authors which might be excusable as technically they could be called artists (not 100% sure on the comedians thing).
What is this crap you’re dishing out Spin? Did you actually get an author that cared at all about Nirvana to write this article?
It just makes me wonder is all.
Anyway that’s my 2 cents on what I thought was a mockery of an article.
Earlier today Spin Magazine published a post about Maynard James Keenan’s (of Tool fame) 1st single release from upcoming album “Conditions of My Parole”.
The album is from Maynard’s side project Puscifer and is slated to be released on October 18th of this year.
It will be the 2nd studio album released by Puscifer and judging from the sound of this track fans of Tool, A Perfect Circle, & Puscifer will not be disappointed with this album.

Coldplay has just released a new video for their single Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall.
It’s just a lttle bit trippy, it’s animated (stop motion), it’s got a lot of paint, and it’s definitely Coldplay’s style.
The video is definitely on track with the songs lyrics taking a depressing looking drap city scape and as the music progresses it seems to magically paint the city scape making it a beautiful place,
“I turn the music up, I got my records on I shut the world outside until the lights come on Maybe the streets alight, Maybe the streets are gone I feel my heart start beating to my favorite song”
The scene moves from the walls in an empty basement being painted and the band at various stages of playing / singing to being above ground and eventually even the outside buildings getting a coat of paint.

Apparently Hasbro (the makers of Monopoly) have released a special edition Metallica Monopoly game.
While we don’t currently carry the Metallica Monopoly game (and probably won’t) we just had to post about it. It was too good an opportunity to pass up.
Within an hour or so of making the announcement on the band’s official facebook page they already had over 22,000 people that liked the announcement but reading the comments revealed that quite a number of fans were not so happy about the announcement.
There were a number of Kiss references and some of those that weren’t so happy wrote things like:
“now im gonna go burn every one of your guys effing albums.”
“Cliff Burton will be turning in his grave. I bet the most of these ” love it” idiots don’t even know who he was. Metallica have lost it. I’m sad ”
“Metallica is the Kiss of Heavy metal”
“next thing they’re gonna do is make a disney movie with justin beiber, complete a soundtrack and a 5 year tour…”

Obviously there are those that love the idea and while we expected a decent number of people to hate on the idea there were tons of fans quite passionately showing their disgust for this new Metallica merch.

Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 was supposed to be released in 2010 but Adam Yauch aka MCA needed treatment for cancer and so the album was delayed.

We had our first photo shoot with Kyra on Saturday February 26th and we love the pics we got!
