descendents photoAn internet controversy began when The Decsendents released their new album, Hypercaffium Spazzinate. The controversy centered around their use of the word “Spazz” in the title of the album.

Some may have felt that the word “spazz” was meant to be offensive to individuals with intellectual and learning disabilities. The word “spazz” could also mean that someone is experiencing a caffeine rush or energy boost. The word may be interpreted differently in different regions or cultures. The band did not directly address reporters about this controversy, but rather released a statement via a website aimed at music fans with disabilities. The statement issued was “We’re a charity that promotes full and active social lives for people with learning disabilities, because we don’t think life stops at 9pm!’.

five finger death punch photoFive Finger Death Punch front man Ivan Moody suffered a breakdown onstage in 2015, allegedly due to a drinking problem. Five Finger Death Punch has become considerably successful, having received many record label offers as of late. The band’s recent success only casts a more negative light on Moody’s live breakdown – however, other band members quickly realized that Moody needed help, stating that “the stage was sacred” in regard to being drunk onstage. After this meltdown, Moody attended rehab and reportedly swiftly got better. The band is now trying to put this behind them as they go on tour in North America starting in October. They also wish to remind fans that it is not personal if they decline drinks, given what happened.

axl rose guns photoTommy Stinson defends his former band mate’s Axl Rose’s surly reputation. Former Guns n’ Roses bassist Stinson claims Rose’s reputation for being (insert favorite insult here) is not entirely correct. In fact, he seems to be saying that Rose is just misunderstood.

According to Stinson, Rose is in fact a very hard worker who simply has his own ideas about how things should be done. And if things are not done Rose’s way, that is when things could get ugly.

Of course, being former band mates, Stinson knows what he is talking about. He admits to having a good time during his stints with the band, but that its time has come and gone. He’s also honest when he admits to not listening to any Guns n’ Roses songs in years.

Stinson has recorded material with a new band, no release date has been set.

Angus Young ACDC photoAngus Young is continuing to play in AC/DC even though the majority of the original band members have retired. Angus says he feels that he owes it to bandmate and older brother Malcolm Young, who retired in 2014 and suffers from dementia. Angus and Malcolm were in the band from the beginning and Malcolm served as a mentor to his younger brother.

Angus and Malcolm’s nephew Steve Young will replace Malcolm on the Rock or Bust tour. Angus said that Malcolm would have continued on with the band even though some might suggest it be time to end the band entirely. Even though AC/DC’s bassist, Cliff Williams, has announced Rock or Bust to be his last tour, Angus is determined to finish out the tour strong.

Korn is ‘ship back on course’ says Munky

by Kelly M on August 6, 2016

Korn Munky photoKorn has a new album coming out this fall titled “The Serenity of Sufferring.” The album will be their 12th album and according to James “Munky” Shaffer, who is Korn’s guitarist, this album will be the album that “puts the ship back on course.”

The release date is October 21 according to some sources & Korn is currently on tour in North America promoting the new album.

Munky spoke to WIRX Rock 107 about the new upcoming album and what the approach was when writing the songs and music. They wanted this album to be the one that got them back on course since the albums they made while Brian “Head” Welch was out of the band veered a little to the left. Each song was tracked from begining to end which is why each song sounds so alive.

Korn is back at it this coming up fall with the new album and their tour in North America. Fans should definitely make sure to check out this new album that will be released October 21st, 2016. Korn’s “ship is back on track.”
